linux - Support for 802.1x Authentication in a device not supporting it earlier -

i working on embedded system linux kernel 2.6.10 not supporting 802.1x authentication mode in wired network. helpful if there specific pointers on how proceed have authentication. , wanted know whether sufficient change kernel level driver (upgrade it) or need changes application layer also? (atleast protocol specifications ieee 802.1x understanding authentication happens @ lower layer itself) in advance.

i have got answer this. needed have wpa_supplicant dependancies built. able build , cross compile them successfully.
